SpeedXG

Packet Loss Test

Measure how many timed probes fail to return. High loss causes lag spikes, robotic calls and rubber-banding in games.

What packet loss means

Packet loss is data that never arrives. This browser test uses HTTP probes, not ICMP ping, so it is a practical path check rather than a router-level traceroute.

What is a good packet loss result?

0% is the goal. Under 1% is usually playable. 2%+ on a wired connection is a problem. Wi-Fi, VPNs and congested mobile networks raise loss even when Mbps looks fine.

FAQ

Is this a real ICMP ping?

Browsers cannot send ICMP. SpeedXG times many small HTTP requests. Failed or timed-out probes count as loss.

Why do I see loss only on Wi-Fi?

Interference and retries drop frames. Compare Ethernet. If wired is clean, fix the wireless hop.
