Headphone Test
Put the headset on and play Left, then Right. You should hear only that ear. Swap the cups if the labels feel reversed.
Wear the headset. Start at low volume. Left should be the left cup only.
Headphone vs speaker
Same stereo test, but leaks and Bluetooth codecs show up more on headphones. If one cup is quiet, try another jack or dongle before replacing the set.

Why is Bluetooth delayed?
Wireless audio adds latency. That is normal and not a failed driver.
