Fix slow internet in order

Run this slow internet speed test. Reboot the router. Test next to the AP. If Ethernet is fast, upgrade Wi-Fi. If Ethernet is also slow, try off-peak hours, then the ISP. If only one website fails, open the SpeedXG status board — the line may be fine.

Slow internet vs high ping

Pages can crawl because Mbps is low or because ping/jitter is high. Games feel “slow” on a 300 Mbps line with 120 ms ping. Read all four numbers, not just download.

FAQ

Why is my internet slow at night?

Shared cable nodes and Wi-Fi congestion peak in the evening. Compare a wired test at 2 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Can one device slow the whole house?

Yes. Cloud backups, console updates and 4K uploads saturate uplink and make everyone else stutter.
